The atmosphere for this celebration begins right after the new year count down. If you're in Hong Kong a week before Chinese new year. You can see the red tide (red lanterns & red decorations) flows over, in the Hotels lobby, shopping malls , streets , markets, shops etcs. New year songs are played along the streets and malls throughout the days & nights......
Crowd are filled in the streets. People busy hunting new stuffs for celebration. Clothes, footwear, households and even flowers. Few of the unique spots should not miss out during the day.
Flowers market Road ( Fa yuen street) at mong kok - A Bazaar Of Flowers. One of Hong Kong's most colorful street markets. Walking through the street is the perfect way to enjoy the aroma blooms. You will amazes by thousand of difference type of flowers. All shops & stalls are filled with nature colors. Chinese believe putting some auspicious plants or flowers in the house on new year's day will bring good luck. Blossoms is the most demanded during this season, and follow by Pussy willow branches. Other type like Peonies and Narcissi , which associated with red or gold colors, and whether flowers’ names sound like “ good luck” or “money” in Cantonese.

Since you're there, take the opportunity to visit the famous Yuen Po Street Bird Market. Explore the unforgettable experience along with the nature beautiful noises by thousand of birdsongs.

Goldfish bring good luck and natural beauty to many living rooms in Hong Kong.Especially, in the new year 's day. Goldfish Market - This specialist market is the preferred source for goldfish and other exotic fishes. Just spend a little bit of your time, you may not want to leave until the shops closed in the evening.

You can easily get there by MTR Prince Edward station exit B1 West.

Few more places where you can hangs around at night are Ladies Street Market & Temple Street Market, I will talk more on that in my next post.

The first day of the Chinese New Year in Hong Kong is quiet. Most of the shops and restaurants are closed except restaurants in the hotels. That is the only time they take a few days rest throughout the whole busy year. People leave for holidays, or hangs out with their relatives.
If you worry nothing to fill you up? Western fast food isn't a bad idea.

“Kung Hei Fat Choy!” - Meaning “Congratulations and be prosperous" . That is what Chinese greet their love one , relatives , friends or anybody during the 15 days celebration. Don't be shy to greet locals by cheerily announcing that, they will be very happy and may give you a " lai see" in return. (A fancy little red envelope filled with good luck money)

Although most places are quiet during the day, but you still can hear lion dance and dragon dance drums noises here and there along the quiet streets. Some happening in the night around 8pm in the first day. A Chinese New Year Night Parade in Tsim Sha Tsui. Kowloon. You may explore the unique culture of Hong Kong before you call off the day.
Don't just rest in the hotel for the second night. A great fireworks show will definitely amazes you. Boats are pack the harbor and people thronging the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, particularly the Avenue of Stars. Many people rent a boat to get a perfect view from the harbor. Try to get a good view spot and be there early, ideally around 7pm, as it fills up quickly. The fireworks button push off at 8pm.

There are much more excitement to talk about. Come and see it yourself.

Poon Hill trek is Nepal’s most popular easy-trek destination. It is situated north of the lake city of Pokhara and just below the mighty Annapurna Range in central Nepal. From this summit, at 3210m, over 60 peaks higher than 6000m can be seen at a glance: including the three giants of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m) and Manaslu (8163m) – ranked 7th, 10th and 8th of the world’s highest peaks. The sacred mountain of Machhapuchhare (the fish tail, 6997m) stands guard in front of the range.
Our circular 5 days Poon hill trek leads you through the Himalayan foothills on ancient paths linking ridge villages carved by the waters pouring from the glaciers above. Terraced farmland is interspersed with ancient forests of rhododendron, oak, maple, pine and bamboo. The peoples of this region have embraced tourism and always offer a warm welcome, clean accommodation and a variety of tasty dishes to satisfy both local and ‘foreign’ palates.
From Kathmandu, a 25m flight or a 6-7 hour bus ride takes you to Pokhara, a thriving commercial and industrial centre with a wide range of hotels and enticing shops. A short drive through the foothills takes you to the start of the trek at 1070m. Two fairly easy days of trekking lead to the large village of Ghorepani. An early morning climb to the summit of Poon Hill (3210m) should be rewarded by a magnificent sunrise highlighting the peaks to the north.

Two more days of walking, with plenty of chances to admire the mountains from different vantage points, lead to the second large village of Ghandruk. The route on the final day follows the major Modi Khola that carries melt water from the ring of peaks in the Annapurna Sanctuary that eventually pour into the Ganges River in India.
Spring (March - May) and autumn (September- November) are the most popular seasons, but we offer this trek throughout the year. All you need is a good pair of boots, a day pack, warm clothing, sleeping bag and camera. Our Poon hill trekking includes transport, accommodation, meals, drinking water and showers.

Everest Base Camp Kala Pathar Trek from the last village of Gorak Shep will combine to give you the most dramatic introduction to Everest possible. Base Camp offers the Khumbu Glacier, the infamous ice fall to the Western Cwm and, in spring, the preparatory conditions of mountaineers. Kala Patthar, behind the village, offers close-up views of Everest, Nuptse, the South Col and a ring of lesser peaks with beautiful Pumori next to you.

This Everest base camp trekking begins with a scenic 35 minute flight to the northwest of Kathmandu and lifts you to Lukla (2780m) where you will meet your porters and set off, through farmland and forest along trails that have been trodden for centuries. Take time to observe local architecture, customs and habits; put aside “foreign ways” and enjoy the pace of life devoid of wheels, rush and time constraints. Let the setting consume you as you mingle with the people and experience their lifestyle, beliefs, skills and warmth. Prayer flags, chortens, mani walls and gompas will testify to the importance of Buddhism in their lives.

Our Everest Base Camp trek Nepal is carefully structured to minimize the risks of altitude sickness (AMS) by limiting the length of each day’s walk and the gain in altitude. A rest day at the vibrant town of Namche Bazaar allows for an acclimatization walk to explore Khumjung, the largest Sherpa Village in the region before dropping back “low” for the night. As the EBC trekking trail rises, the villages become smaller, the vegetation and crops change to cope with shorter growing seasons, your pace becomes slower and the scenery more dramatic. A second acclimatization day is required at Dingboche, after which you gradually climb to the last village of Gorak Shep.

The Mount Everest Trek return journey, whilst quicker as you lose altitude, is no less spectacular and also affords the opportunity to re-observe, re-assess and enrich your experience.

This strenuous trek requires fitness, good boots, warm/waterproof clothing, a good sleeping bag, a day pack camera sunscreen and hat. Our Everest trek package includes transport, porters, meals, accommodation and drinking water.

Spring (March - May) and autumn (September - November) are the most popular trekking months, but Mountain Mart Treks’ adventure team offers this trek in all four seasons.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is scenically the most spectacular trek we offer in the Annapurna region. The view of the range from Pokhara is the view that will tower above you from the base camp. It follows the course of the Modi Khola up the gorge cut by river from the Annapurna South glacier and leads to a spectacular basin whose walls are formed by the ring of glacial peaks of the main range with the dramatic Machhapuchhare on the right flank.

This Annapurna Base Camp trekking begins north of the central city of Pokhara which is reached by a 6-7 hour bus ride of a 20 minute flight from Kathmandu. It begins at the village of Nayapul at just 1090m (1½ hours drive from Pokhara) and climbs gradually up the Modi Khola Valley through natural forests of oak, rhododendron, pine and bamboo. Villages are sited on ridges high above the river where slopes are gentle enough for terraced farming.

The climax of the ABC trek is reached in the spectacular Annapurna Sanctuary amphitheatre where you will first pass the Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail) Base Camp (3700m) en route to ABC (4130m). Here you are surrounded by an immense and breathtaking wall of rock and ice reaching heights from 6500 – 8091m and dramatised by closer rocky outcrops rising above the U-shaped valley gouged out by glacier. Cloud frequently forms in the late morning making for enticing glimpses of an ever changing landscape: at sunrise it is frequently still and clear offering viewers / photographers a surfeit of possibilities.

The downward journey only requires two or three nights with one spent at Jhinu Danda for a visit to the hot springs. The last morning requires a short trek to Phedi and a half hour drive back to your hotel in Pokhara.

Spring (March - May) and autumn (September - November) are the most popular seasons, but we can offer this trek throughout the year;Teahouse accommodation is plentiful and a variety of Nepali, Tibetan, Indian and Continental dishes are readily available. This 7 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek is thus suitable for anyone who is moderately fit and adventurous. All you will need is a good pair of boots, warm clothing, a sleeping bag and your camera. Our trek includes all accommodation, meals, drinking water and Hot howers.
